 If you are thinking of technical diving but are not sure if it is for you, then this is the perfect course.
A basic introduction to technical diving that involves an orientation of its procedures and a dive at a shallow controlled site where you get to try out full technical diving equipment.
The Discover Tec experience can be used as credit towards the DSAT Apprentice or Tec Deep Diver Course.
Course prerequisites
- PADI open water certified or equivalent rating
- 10 logged dives
- minimum age 18
DSAT APPRENTICE TEC – LEVEL 1
The first step to becoming a fully certified DSAT TEC Deep Diver is the Apprentice Tec Level 1. This course is aimed at those who are interested in technical diving yet do not have the time or money nor have met the prerequisites for the full Deep Tec course.
This course can be used as credit towards the TEC deep or as a specialty rating for your Master Scuba Diver.
The Apprentice Course will teach you how to make gas switch extended no decompression dives using enriched air up to 60% to a depth of 40mts while using technical diving equipment and procedures. You will also prepare for and respond to possible technical diving emergencies and problems.
The course is spread over 5 days. The first 3 days cover basic theory and each day a shallow skill practice dive. The next 2 days involve more theory and dive planning, each day 2 dives, each one getting deeper and longer. The TEC exam consisting of 100 multiple questions based on dive theory and 20 questions based on calculations must be completed before dive 6.

- PADI deep diver or equivalent rating
- Minimum 50 logged dives of which 10 must be on nitrox; 12 deeper than 18mts and 6 deeper than 30mts

DSAT TEC DEEP DIVER – LEVEL 2
The full DSAT technical deep diving course is aimed at those who have already had a taste of technical diving and want to go the whole way. The TEC Deep course will allow you to dive beyond recreational limits and introduce you to the wide world of technical diving. The DSAT TEC Deep course is equivalent to other training agency’s advanced nitrox; decompression procedures and extended range courses.
Upon completion of the course you will be able to conduct gas switch extended no decompression dives using air and enriched air up to 60% to a depth of 50mts. You will also learn to prepare for and respond to possible technical diving emergencies and problems
The actual course takes 8 days and is divided into 3 parts. The first 3 days cover basic theory and each day a shallow skill dive. The next 2 days cover more theory and dive planning and 2 dives each day, each deeper and longer. The final 3 days finish the theory and exam and 1 dive each day to a depth of 45-50mts.
Upon completion of the course you are eligible to enroll in DSAT Tec-trimix, TDI advanced wreck and TDI extended range courses.

- PADI deep or equivalent rating
- Minimum 100 logged dives of which 20 must be on nitrox; 25 deeper than 18mts and 15 deeper than 30mts

UPGRADE TEC DEEP LEVEL 2
If you are already a certified TEC Apprentice Level 1 technical diver then simply complete the upgrade to level 2 to become a fully qualified TEC deep diver.
This is a 3-day course that includes remedial theory and 3 dives all to a depth of 45-50mts.
